Meet the Music Managers

Focusing on issues that affect modern day artist management, the Meet The Music Managers event explored how to stay ahead in today's rapidly changing music business.

Cerne Canning
Cerne started his career at Rough Trade. This led
to him into promoting bands such as: Primal Scream, The Mighty Lemon Drops & Sonic Youth in the late 1980s at London venue Bay 63. He then promoted the NME’s C86 shows at the ICA London, before calling it a day as a promoter. He started managing Franz Ferdinand in 2003, with the band signing to Domino. Franz are now a multi-million selling act, having released three albums since 2004.

Graham Wrench
Graham’s career in the music business began in the 1980s, putting up fly-posters for The Leadmill, in Sheffield. He was the venue’s promoter from 1989-1998 booking artists such as Oasis, Pulp & Happy Mondays. His first experience managing was for Babybird, who had a big hit in the mid 1990s with the song You’re Gorgeous. For the last 10 years, Graham has managed Mercury Music Prize nominee Richard Hawley and has recently added Tom McRae and rock ‘n’ roll legend Duane Eddy to his roster.
